WEEK ONE

20/02/11 - Hackney South/East Marsh - Kick Off: 10:30am

Freshly processed at Metro Imaging this morning, here are the first set of negatives from the project: Referee!

Its been a very successful first session of photographing at Hackney Marshes. Observing roughly around 20 games in one morning, it brings back that buzz for the game that I felt a few years ago.

Funding for Referee Project

THANK YOU IdeasTap for accepting my application on my project entitled:

- Referee -

Hackney Marshes is one of the most famous playing fields for Sunday League Football in London. It is also where I have played football since an early age.

Over the years I have noticed that each referee has a unique way of handling the game. Whether due to differences in character, age, weight, manner or how seriously they took the game, there was always something individual about each one that caught my attention.

My idea is to take formal portraits of each referee, either before the game commences, at half time and/or after the game. Situated on the playing fields, the portraits will be constructed there and then.

Please stay tuned for updates on this project here and at my profile blog on www.ideastap.com
